Gender Balance and the Energy Transition

The renewables industry is driving the global transition change from fossil fuels to clean-energy production. Though the sector is shaping the future of power as it expands, it is becoming clear that gender equality in renewable is lagging behind other industries, with employment numbers still showing a pressing and persistent disparity despite the importance of diversity and inclusion having never been clearer.

To delve into this conundrum Recharge is convening a panel of thought leaders from across the wind industry to discuss key questions emerging from the dialogue to date, including:

  • What headway has been made in recent years and why has the industry not made more progress in addressing gender inequality?
  • Which industries are proving to models for greater gender balance and what can the renewables industry learn from them?
  • What are the hurdles to greater gender diversity in the renewables industry and what must we do to overcome them?

Co-hosted by Shell with panellists from across the wind sector, this latest Recharge digital roundtable aims to help raise awareness about an issue that is fundamental to the energy transition and give attendees a toolkit to deepen the conversation within their own organisations and take action.
