Wind Technology and Application
Launching itself in the past decade, the global floating wind power sector adopted both offshore oil & gas-inspired platform designs as the basis for its first prototypes and arrays, as well as the old North Sea petro-adventurer’s battle-cry: ‘Technology saves!’
The result has been one of the most rapid industrialisations in history, with gigascale deepwater wind projects now in the frame for markets around the world and the sector gearing up to begin manufacturing thousands of floating turbine units.
And it will be technology that will be looked to anew to put floating wind in a position to fulfill analyst forecasts that over 250GW will be turning by mid-century, powering mega-cities, island nations, aquaculture and green shipping alike.
